There are two types of people during the festive season. There are the true lovers of Christmas and the whole shebang and there are the haters! I think it’s popular, the saying- Haters gonna hate! And, boy they do hate because I am one of festive season haters…
Only thing I loved about this years Christmas was giving gifts (to the extent that I could and was able to give). And I loved the time I got to spend with my dah’ling!
Everything else- just passed by and I’m glad it’s over and done with for yet another year.
The Lovers! Wow, I envy their energy and their loyalty to tradition and the need to keep it alive. I don’t hate the lovers of the festive seasons. I admire them. They have the power to pull off a near 2-month shopping spree during which they get the best and most thoughtful presents to all the loved ones and not get depressed at the thought of money slipping thoruhg their fingers. They have the power to decorate their homes into Santa’s-grotto-look-alike the whole town admires. They have the power to organize and plan ahead every single detail of the days ahead- including buying 10 slabs of beer for the 1 (ONE) day, that shops and pubs are closed alongside with all the other snacks. They have the power to pull off a fantastic and filling xmas dinner- including home-made stuffing and the biggest turkey and the best ham cooked in cider. They even bake the chocolate cake from scratch. They have the power to enjoy the whole day while doing all of this with the rest of the family just enoying the freedom infront of TV and waiting to get fed.
These are wonder-women!
I have decided I will not panic about xmas… Get presies sorted in 1 day. Hells, this year I didn’t even cook an Irish xmas dinner. I just went the easy, Estonian way- roast pork. Which was stuffed already in the butchers. Oh, and minus the sauerkraut and blood sausages (which I don’t like anyway). All this xmas madness, which is pretty much taken the life out of after dinner is finished at 2pm.
It’s kind of- whoa, what a build up for xmas and the dinner is gonna be fab. You sit down, have dinner and then it’s- OK, xmas is over. Fuck off to your own room, watch TV, have a beer and tomorrow we can go back to being normal people.

I also don’t like the festive season because it makes me miss my family SO darned much. But I miss them all the time anyway, the crazy bunch! ๐Ÿ™‚
Thank god, I met Michael who suits into the “family-picture” perfectly!

Hope you all had an enjoyable Christmas! ๐Ÿ™‚
Next step is to send off the Old Year with a decent bang ๐Ÿ™‚
There are still a few days left- so wishing good things for the coming year and the chat about next year’s promises is yet to come ๐Ÿ˜‰
