30811311Yes, having the Shutterstock watermark on the book cover image doesn’t exactly scream ‘professional’ or ‘thought through’ but you know what? I don’t give two shits- any trouble/problems author may have due to the Shutterstock thing, is frankly not my problem. Did I like the book, the stuff that’ underneath and between the covers? Yes, I did indeed.

Danny Pearson is cruising through life on the edge of contentment—even in his marriage…

His wife seems distant, yet perfectly happy. They work on different schedules and pass like ships in the night. But that’s how marriage is after so many years, right?

When Danny meets a mysterious girl, his idea of the meaning of love shatters at his feet…

She’s not extraordinary, but somehow she’s so much more than just another girl. When he catches her gaze, he knows deep in his gut that she’s the one—the love of his life. But being a decent guy, he holds his feelings in check, and there is no ulterior motive when he shares a coffee with her. As she leaves, she gives him a business card. That’s all there is to it.

Her name is Ella. And after that, she is nothing more than a fond memory.

Danny puts Ella out of his mind and moves on with his life—until his world falls apart…When his wife confesses to having an affair and demands a divorce, his life is thrown into chaos. It’s a challenge adjusting to the single life, but it’s not impossible. As time passes, he continues to reminisce of his brief encounter with the woman he’s sure was his chance at true happiness.

How far is Danny willing to go in the pursuit of love? How far would you when, in all probability, you are only…

Chasing what’s already gone?

This was a really lighthearted book with life’s ups and downs but mostly ups and it was quite funny to top it off. A romance.. romantic?… book written through a man’s POV- come on- you have to admit, it does tickle every woman’s fancy.

The story has a load of likeable characters and is quite realistic… Even though Danny’s lucky streak does seem rather miraculous…OK, maybe it’s just Lady Karma refunding Danny for all the years in a shitty marriage! 🙂 Will Danny finally find ‘the one’ that got away that day when he was out shopping with his wife?!

Danny is quite charming if at times I found him to be a bit feminine? I can’t recall the scenes where I thought so, but I remember thinking it. Maybe because none of the men in my life (dad, bro, husband) aren’t anything like Danny… they’re more like Derek… anyway…. Danny was great though, considerate, funny and not a trace of arrogance…

I was surprised to find this book sit so well with me- it was well written, plenty of ‘action’, no half arsed attempt at smut and hey presto- even a few tricks to put up your sleeve to see right through men’s attempt at ‘getting away with it’. There’s no high speed fight scenes, no real heart breaking drama and comes with a decent HEA. I’m quite sure there is a group of readers out there after exactly this kind of book.

Chasing What’s Already Gone will be published on July 26th, so if a light, humorous read is just what you need, keep an eye out for it soon! I guess you could call this book one of those ‘beach reads’- get your tan going and while you’re at it, read something that makes you feel content.

My rating: 3*** – I liked it, it was great. There’s the little cover issue with the watermark.
