I was pleasantly surprised this morning… actually, let me be honest, I was shocked! I worked from home a couple of hours before coming to the office and had the chance to meet the mailman… Through the cracked window of his postvan (because we have 3 scary dogs!) he handed me some letters and a dark purple (really funky looking) padded envelope. The last one was addressed to me.
This is what was in the envelope:
A postcard that has news of new duology coming out by Laini Taylor, Spirit of Librarian liquid (I smelled it, I think it’s water π ) and the golden moth ‘tattoo’sticker…wow!
The package was ripped open because liquids aren’t allowed through post but I hope everything that was meant to get to me, did get to me. What surprised me though was the fact I got this fabulous mail in the first place… I think this is my first ‘non-demand’ bookish post! *dances in celebration*
The duology starts with ‘Strange the Dreamer’ and the postcard told me that proofs are on the way… Interesting!
Strange the Dreamer is the story of:the aftermath of a war between gods and men
a mysterious city stripped of its name
a mythic hero with blood on his hands
a young librarian with a singular dream
a girl every bit as perilous as she is imperiled
alchemy and blood candy, nightmares and godspawn, moths and monsters, friendship and treachery, love and carnage.Welcome to Weep.
Now, I don’t know if I’m going to receive and ARC as well in the future or not, but I wouldn’t mind some bookish post if ya know what I mean π I’m bloody well excited!

After my trip to Estonia I moaned in my blog that I totally forgot to buy myself the 2017 calendar by Navitrolla. Yesterday I went home to be welcomed by 2 packages waiting for me.. one from my mother who had sent me a ton of chocolate (hello, breaking out in hives!) and the other was from Rahva Raamat, an Estonian bookshop. I had totally forgotten that I had ordered the calendar so that was a big yay. The illustrations in the calendarΒ are fabulous of course!

And the last piece of news I have… I reached that long awaited milestone of 500 followers on Cover to Cover… to be honest, I never thought I’d get there what with my tendency to read&review indie books, thus making the hype book lovers pass me by… but you know what? I haven’t felt this kind of sense of a community anywhere else… ever.. in my life… I think the book blogging community is awesome, you’re all very artistic, genuine, tons of fun and so creative… I feel I have a lot to learn from every single blog I follow and most importantly I thank every single follower sososo much for sticking with me! π
Here’s to new books, here’s to great reading experiences and a bubbly cheers for you all! π β€
That’s awesome, Liz! Surprise book mail is the best kind. π The name of the author sounds familiar to me and I can’t figure out why. I know I haven’t read her books. π€ I’ll have to think on that. I would hope if they took the time to send you a package that you would also receive an ARC, right? I would hope so. And Congrats on 500 followers! I don’t think it matters what books you read. For me, it’s all about the personality of the blogger. I don’t read any of the same books as you, Drew, or Anne and we’re all super close. I read blogs for the personality of the reviewer and how they review. You could write a review of a calculator and I’m sure it will still be fun to read. To another 500 more! β€οΈ

Aww thank you so much for the lovely words and encouragement! π It has been really nice to get to know you, Drew, Donna, Danielle, Anne and many others… what a bunch ye/we are! π
Laini Taylor write The Daughter of Smoke and Bone series so maybe that’s why this author rings a bell π
LOL at writing a review for a calculator! π That would be awesome π

Ahh, that’s why I know the name! I have all of the books in that series and haven’t read them yet. What a dodo I am! Haha! Wouldn’t that be funny to read a calculator review? lol You’re welcome, Liz! π

Oh you have the books? That’s cool… I think Anne read the series as well and she liked the books so I’m leaning towards checking the series out as well… I hope you love ’em… whenever you get around to reading them π

I actually read a book about a Daughter of something else :’). Sand and smoke? Stone and bone? Lord help me, I can’t remember the title anymore! It was a lot less popular than Laini Taylor’s version, though π

Thank you so much for the vote of confidence π I only recently discovered your blog as well, through Jill if I recall correctly so expect to seem me hanging ‘at your place’ π
I haven’t read the Daughter of Smoke &Bone trilogy… yet… I hear good things about it so definitely one to check out for me in 2017… π
Thank you π I shall be waiting with open arms for that ARC, I like the cover and the promise of a good story! π

Jill has only led me to wonderful people π Daughter Of Smoke & Bone is one of my fave trilogies. The writing is lush and beautiful with Laini’s signature flare for the unusual lol. The cover is beautiful & the synopsis has me tapping my foot & looking at the calendar haha! π

Well, Jill knows some awesome people that’s for sure π
Lush and beautiful writing you say? Yeah.. I read that postcard again that promos the new duology and it already shines through that there’s a unique wordsmanship happening… I am intrigued for sure!
Hahaha, a big red X for all release dates in the calendar… or maybe not… because then we’d have a calendar that is hard to read because all the dates are x’d over! π #bookwormproblems

Bahahaha! I had to get a separate calendar just for bookish related events & releases because it was getting crazy smh π hope you enjoy Laini’s writing when you get to it π

Massive congratulations on reaching 500 followers Liz, you have a great blog and write quality reviews and thoroughly deserve the achievement.π
And as Jill says, personality counts for a lot to and you’re part of our crazy group of deviants.π
And you like Mark Lawrence and The Broken Empire trilogy – that’s a winner by itself!π
Hyped books, blah, I don’t read hyped books either!π
I got that package in the post last week, I was like WTF is this?! If you receive promotional stuff then you usually get the book to, we shall both see.

Book Mail is always a nice surprise especially when it includes an actual book!π when it was promotional material I did wonder what it was for!π€
We maybe waiting for a while for the book…who knows.
Ah, you see, we can all write nice things at times!π

π yes, you cheeky bunch surprised me with the niceties! π
I guess book promo mail without the book is all part of the build up… I recall a quite interesting marketing stunt a publisher did over twitter a while back.. they tweeted that they received a letter and in it was a black postcard which read a bit like a threat.. anyway, these letters kept arriving with new snippets and quotes and I was like, holy mama, they’re under attack π turned out it was all a build up for book to be published… now, I never read the book, but I still remember the marketing of it. Genius!

That’s great marketing, I got a fake train ticket for marketing for a book called The Tourist!π And the book turned out to be not very good – hasn’t posted my review yet.π
Fingers crossed this one will be good though.π
I know, it’s a shocker isn’t it, we were nice….that never happens!π

Hahaha, a fake train ticket.. how did you figure out it was fake? did you try to board a train and were then kicked off for not holding a valid travel pass? π … good idea though! sorry the book didn’t work out for you… will you review it some time soon? I think I can’t recall a review by you that was rant rather than good or rave…? no, i lie… I vaguely remember one I think but the title? who knows!
so that would be interesting π

Into The Guns was a complete rant by me, I didn’t like a sci-fi book either but didn’t rant about it. I’ve wrote the review but haven’t posted it yet, it’s not really a rant more that the books premise sounded good but it failed to live upto it.
Ha, no, it was a fake ticket to the resort in the book but as I had no clue about the book at the time I didn’t know what it was! π

I feel this year I’ve really hit the ground running with the blog and not because of all the great books I’ve managed to score and all the fabulous indie authors I have had the chance to chat with but equally it’s about the bloggers I’ve met and … I guess, in a way, being a pessimistic realist at times, you lot have made me see the fun and good in people again… π β€
