‘Sup folks! [insert a long string of misery and excuses] but I’m back now! 🙂
While I am working on a book review with a work colleague, I thought the best way to make a comeback is by doing a tag. My heartfelt thanks to Zuky the BookBum for tagging me! Many thanks also to not-so-modern-girl for creating this interesting tag! Goes without saying that you’ll need to check out their bookish blogs! *looks at you with hypnotic eyes and whispers* Do it!
Rules:
*Create your own listicle tag, using the prompt from the person who tagged you.
*Tag the creator of the post (not-so-modern-girl!) so that she can read all your brilliant posts and see how the joy of listicles is being spread.-
*Nominate as many people as you want!
*Set those 5 people the subject/prompt of their listicle post!
The listicle prompt by Zuky is: 5 books you wish you could read again for the first time.
Kings of the Wyld by Nicholas Eames
“You know the books where heros are gallant knights in shining armour, gentlemanly and smooth as margarine? Well, Kings of the Wyld brings you Saga… 5 heros who know how to enjoy a good meal as much as value a good pair of tits.” [Read More…]
Goes without saying I had just sooo much fun with this book!
All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque
There is something about this book… about Remarque, that has a never fading impact on me. The very first time I read All Quiet on the Western Front- everything changed. I would like to say, the humanity and the theme of war shaped my young mind and pushed me in a certain direction. I have read a number of Remarque’s books and I have enjoyed them all, but I am planning to reread this one in the very near future. I think it’ll be an interesting venture…
Screw Friendship by RG Manse
That book, and the whole series after that was an absolute hoot to read. You might think, but, Liz, it’s kind of mystery genre? Wasn’t it boring?! Hell no, it wasn’t! Frank Friendship series does not fit into a box! It’s witty, funny, outrageous and I had the best time ever reading Screw Friendship, Pursue Friendship and Deny Friendship. The characters, the twists, the shockers! I am longingly awaiting to read what RG Manse comes up with next!
The Leopards of Normandy: Devil by David Churchill
“My heart must have broke about 4-5 times during this wonderful book… Bloody hell, I seriously cried… Twice! And I feel like I have so much to say about this book without knowing where to start…” [Read More…]
This historical fiction series is keeping me on my toes. Since reading Devil, Duke Book #2 has also been released and I am eagerly waiting for Book #3. The historical facts mixed with some really good fiction made Devil a really exciting book for me, so I do wish I could go back and read this anew just to revisit those feelings I had…
Prince of Thorns by Mark Lawrence
I have a rather special relationship with the whole trilogy. My reading had stalled, my life had stalled.. everything was rather shit and boring a few years back. I walked into a library- at this stage I hadn’t really read a book for a number of years- became a member and Prince of Thorns was the second book I loaned. Second book? Yeah, well, fun fact: I had actually read King of Thorns first without realizing it was #2 in a series… pffft… but, all’s well that ends well… Lawrence essentially rekindled my love for reading and kickstarted this bookblog. I do wish I could go back in time and read this for the first time again!
So, this was my listicle! Have you read any of the books I listed? If so, let me know what you thought about them orfeel free to link your own reviews in the comments 🙂
Listicle: a piece of writing or other content presented wholly or partly in the form of a list
The 5 bloggers I would like to nominate are:
The Orang-Utan Librarian ¦ Trang&Lashaan of Bookidote
Dr Rash@ A Blog About Book ¦ Rambling Lisa ¦ Yvo @ It’s All About Books
+ everyone else who would like to have a go at their very own listicle based on the following prompt:
*Top 5 books you’ll never be caught with in public.
Have fun! 🙂
Cool tag and Lmao at your list choice, I’ll look forward to reading their answers to that! 😂
Awesome, hell yeah to Kings of the Wyld, I’d love to be able to read it for the first time again, such a great book, definitely going to re-read it at some point and Ooohhh yeah! To Prince of Thorns too! After getting back into reading it was one of the books that cemented my love for the Grimdark genre and what a great character in little Jorgy the lovable psycho! To be to read his journey for the first time again would be quality.

I would like to see ehat people come up with for my prompt. Could you name some that you wouldn’t want to be seen with? 😉
Yes for Jorgy… there’s also a question whether I would feel the same about the books now, a year or so later, but I think I would…

Lol, Rash should have some awesome answers! Are they books we actually own or just books in general?!🤔

In general ☺
I do hope Rash gives this a go… if he can make time in that busy schedule of his ☺

Ah, well then, fifty shades of grey trilogy, the Twatlight series, any cover with abs on, the Bible, the Koran.😂
LikeLiked by 1 person
hahaha @ the Twatlight 😀 I was just watching the thirs movie of the series last night, in fact… it’s so much cheese! LOL
And it would be odd to see you out and about demonstrating a book that has oily abs on the cover… 😀

I think if I was sat on a park bench reading or pretending to read a book with abs on the cover then it might get me the wrong sort of attention, a dude might see it and come up and say hello sailor!😂

LOL @ hello sailor! that defo conjured up some interesting mental images! 😀

Agree with Kings of the Wyld. Prince of Thorns didn’t really knock my socks off. Can’t say I have heard of the others.

Oooh… I gotta go find your review of Prince of Thorns..have you published it anywhere?

No, sadly. I read it a good while before I started blogging. I liked it, I just struggled to get into it.

Ah, OK, cool! 😉 Hows The Black Guard going for you?

Liking it very much. Just over half way. The characters I really like keep dying. It’s strange as you hear of a lot happening but don’t see a lot.

IKR? It’s a bit… the word is in danger of becoming the equivalent of ‘moist’ 😛

Bahaha Liz. That word too.

I still have to read Wolf Road! and Hobbit, I’m ashamed to admit 😦 But I have the last one on my next to buy list 🙂 So, that mistake shall be fixed!

I have not read any of these, but Screw Friendship sounds like fun and the cover of Devil is perfection. It’s good seeing a new post here!

Ooo with you on ‘Kings of the Wyld’! That book was magical ❤ I was a little heartbroken when I finished it, in all honesty. I lent it to my friend yesterday and I'm sincerely hoping he will experience the same magic I did ❤

Well, if you enjoyed Kings of the Wyld and in fact, most of the readers enjoyed it, I can’t see why your friend wouldn’t! Let us know how he fares with it anyway… but I doubt we’ll have to gang up on him 😀 heheh… but I sure am awaiting new book news from Eames!

Ahh what a fun tag!! I absolutely love it- thank you so much for tagging me- I can’t wait to do it (however embarrassing my choices are 😉 )! I loved Prince of Thorns- it really took me by surprise- I just love Jorg so much!! And I still need to read Kings of the Wyld and I’m very intrigued by Alls Quiet on the Western Front 😀

Oh… how odd!!! I never considered that I am actually asking people to reveal their embarrassing choices with this prompt … hahaha… a bit slow, me! 😀 I just thought it was a cool prompt.. but .. yeah… I do look forward to your top 5! 😉
And how awesome that you’re Team Jorg as well! *high fives* 😉
AND… I can’t wait for you to read Kings of the Wyld and All Quite on the Western Front… your thoughts on those two would be mega! 😉

No, you don’t have a dodgy brain- you have a brilliant brain! You’re completely right.. I mean, I’m asking people to reveal the books they never want to be caught in public with, publicly 😀 hahaha… great stuff!

It must be so hard to only choose 5 books! I don’t know any of these books but I might want to give Screw Friendship a try in the future. I still don’t know what to expect exactly but laughs and mystery, I might want to explore and see what that’s about !

It was hard to only choose 5… but I decided to stick with the first 5 that came to mind and not overthink it … otherwise… oh hell, no! 🙂
Glad you’re considering Screw Friendship… Anne (Inked Brownies) really liked the trilogy as well… it’ll defo NOT bore you! 🙂

Fun tag. I would also like to read All Quiet for the first time again. Though to be fair I have not read it in twenty years so maybe I kind of could…
LikeLiked by 1 person
Eh… How wonderful to meet someone who feels the same way about All Quiet… you know.. now that you mention it, for me it has also been nearly 20 years.. ok… 15 years since I read it… long overdue for a reread!

Hahahah I love your picks for this! I’m not surprised to see Kings of the Wyld on here. The banter/character chemistry in it simply sounded.. AMAZING. Got me pretty happy seeing All Quiet on the Western Front on here too. I didn’t expect to see that book anywhere in the blogosphere!! I discovered it a couple of months ago and it sounds EVEN MORE amazing when I take into consideration the impact it had on you! 😀 Also really hyped up for Prince of Thorns. After Red Sister, I just can’t wait to try more books by Mark Lawrence. I have a copy waiting after me, but maaaaaaan… So many books, so little time!!! Thank you so much for tagging us by the way! 😉

🙂 Cheers…
I feel like I have this weird relationship with Remarque.. I haven’t read his books in yonks but I can so clearly recall the emotions his books made me feel.. I was like 14/15 when I read All Quiet… and wow… Strangely I haven’t come across many mentions in the blogosphere myself but once I do a reread, hopefully during this year, I will hope to entice people into reading it 😉
