Name a cartoon that you love
Uh… first ‘question’ and I’m already short of an answer. Of course I watched cartoons as a child (mostly Russian ones) and the latest ones I watched were with my very immature metal guy friends/housemates about 11 years ago (Metalocalypse and another ‘cartoon’ that I rather not name here XD ).
But thinking about the Russian cartoons, my favorite was Black and White Dog. My folks are still teasing me that I always cried when the cartoon ended… pfft- I was a child! Of course I cried when the cartoon ended! 🙂 The below episode is actually a pretty good demonstration about the addiction that is reading.
What is your favorite song right now?
Different tunes for different days. Here are the three songs that I keep going back to…
Leo does fantastic metal/acoustic covers of pop songs and I’m a huge fan because he’s so talented with instruments and my very picky ears love his metal voice. Seal’s Kiss from a Rose cover is just so good… and all his other stuff is very good as well…
I love this instrumental so much… the minute I put this song on, I’m energized! It also makes me want to sit behind my drums… it makes me want to go back in time about 9 years… to a specific room, with those gigantic speakers, good company and just feel the drums and bass reverberate through me! Ahhhh…
And then I can’t get past Slipknot for another energy boost… the video is quite graphic but I ❤ this song!
What could you do for hours that isn’t reading?
If I did have the time, I would spend it hiking and camping. Alas my personal adult life is balls and sometimes the ‘nice to do‘ just doesn’t happen because there’s a whole pile of ‘have to do‘. I’d just want to spend all my days walking through forests and sitting on moss and swimming in bog lakes…
What is something that you love to do that your followers would be surprised by?
Surprised by? I’m hardly that interesting… I do love the rural life… so, picking berries, mowing grass, chopping wood, raking leaves, shoveling snow. The physical outside stuff that makes my limbs tired. End the day with a hot sauna and a cold beer and I’m happy.
What is your favorite unnecessarily specific thing to learn about?
Pah.. no learning experience is unnecessary, I think. I was going to say that I like to read up about all sorts of human experiments that have happened… but it’s not unnecessary.. it’s being informed. By the way, have you heard about The Stanford Prison Experiment? Check it out…
What is something unusual that you know how to do?
Gosh, what are these questions? I feel like I can hardly ever live up to these questions… I’m just a really average Jane Soap normal human being, doing normal human being shit every darned day… 😀
I know what roots to eat in the wilderness should I ever get lost. Does that count? I know how to filter water with rocks and gravel and I know how to catch fish with a plastic bottle! That’s hardly unusual though!?
I know how to chop wood so that it’s quick and efficient (meaning- steer clear of the knots because otherwise you’ll end up hacking for a while, branch knots are the most stubborn areas of timber).
My favorite, however- I know how to do my grocery shopping without loitering in the way of every other shop visitor! *looking at you, you slow, indecisive, path blocking human being! you can daydream at home!*

What is your most recent personal project?
Again- quite everyday things: take my driving test (finally, because I’ve been ignoring it), I’m currently in the process of redecorating the living room and bedroom (floor to ceiling) and then there’s the lifelong personal project- staying alive! har-har-har
Tell us something that you think about often?
You sure you wanna know? The below answer is one of the most personal things I have revealed other than my family and husband… I don’t like to talk about those things to people who I don’t know entirely well, because these topics can’t just be served as snippets.. there’s a whole lot more thought process behind them and debates to be had so… sure, you can call me naive afterwards, you can call me bitter, you can call me weird. Alas, the question demands an answer and I feel like purging! Proceed at your own risk! 🙂
Quite often I think about how the ever loving fuck did we manage to mess up our planet and society so badly?! Do you not think some days that, hang on there, why is it that on a very sustainable environment we let ourselves be ruled by money? Or, why is it that we care more about the latest technology gadgets/handbags/shoes/watches/houses/cars than we do about connecting with nature? Or, why is it that we are finding all sorts of ‘systems’ (financial, religious, political) hard to cope with and yet we can’t seem to come to a consensus that we all deserve equal rights, equal measures, equal respect and actually bring about a drastic change to make things better for everyone? And, how can some people live all their lives without doing a day’s worth of hard work but spend every single day of their lives moaning about chipped nail polish and plastic asses? How can a 16 year old girl not know that a cow’s baby is called a ‘calf’? How does a 30 year old woman not know where potatoes come from? When did we reach the point in humanity that we’ve become so disconnected that we think food comes from supermarkets? Why does the politician who royally screwed up still gets a substantial amount for a pension? What, pray tell me, did they work so HARD on (and don’t tell me responsibility matters as well, because they’re never freaking held accountable!) to deserve it? Don’t you find it funny that they pay money to already rich celebrities to send them on holidays so that they can make a TV show out of it and then show it to the middle class folks sitting at home at the end of a hard day’s work while they’re eating their beans on toast because payday is another 2 weeks away? Why is it that when a civilian breaks the law they get prison but when someone important breaks the law they get a fine? Now I know, some of these questions can be simply answered with a simple fact that every human being walking on this planet is different, with different aims, goals, aspirations and agendas and I actually know that there is NO middle ground that would find a solution to make everyone happy… anyway.. I feel this answer is dragging on and I’;m far from making my point but you can kind of see why these kind of topics need to be discussed in length to be able to really elaborate on a POV… simple fact giving can piss off a lot of people sometimes because they take away the message from any statement that fits their beliefs, motives and POVs…

Hate it, I have to put up with them all the time, so annoying. Worst thing I find is when you’re doing your own shopping somewhere and a person states ‘I want to get there’ and you’re like ‘OK, when I’ve got what I want I’ll be moving’ and you get ‘but I want to get there, you can move and let me get there’ ‘gggrr, when I’m finished’ ‘but your in my way’ ‘well, if you let me get what I want I’ll move’ ‘but I should be allowed to be there, you are in my way, move, then I can get what I want’ gggrr, old shoppers! You just want to say to them ‘look, it’s the reaper, he must be looking for you!’ Now, that’s a cool fancy dress idea, reaper costume and clipboard, go around asking old people their name followed by ‘ah, you’re on the list, don’t go too far’ Bwahahahaha!😂😂
I really don’t know Liz! It’s been going wrong for soo long now, 2001 was really when every changed and it’s been getting worse since then but it’s not just religion, terrorism, etc, the world is ruled by technology too now days, just a downward spiral.

Love your answers! Don’t for one second think that you’re uninteresting or can’t live up to the questions! They say it’s good to be humble, but sometimes you’ve gotta blow your own trumpet so to speak 😀 Do you know how few people can do the things you can or have the knowledge!? You knowing what roots to eat in the wild and how to filter water is awesome! It certainly makes you the ideal travel companion should there ever be an apocalypse 😛 Where did you even get skills like that? I wouldn’t have the first clue about surviving in the wild. I’d probably wander around for ten minutes, see a tasty looking berry, eat it and poison myself 😛
Also, your idea of the rural life sounds like the perfect day to me 😀 Last winter, I spent an entire afternoon raking leaves and apples from my mum’s garden and it was seriously so therapeutic! We ended the afternoon leaning against our rakes, having a huge heart-to-heart with the setting sun as our backdrop ❤
Oh my god, I too often have those kinds of thoughts 😦 Our world is in such a sorry state. The rich get richer for doing sweet fudge all and the poor only get poorer despite working over full time hours for minimum wage. One guy at my hotel works forty plus hours a week and gets something like 16 grand a year – sure, more than some – but for the amount of work he does and the stuff he has to deal with, it's nothing! While the managers work 9-5, get their weekends and bank holidays and get paid way more! Stripped down to our most basic level, we are all the same. We all have hopes and dreams. We all eat. We all drink. We all hurt. We all feel happiness…and yet there are vast divides existing between us all. We've allowed ourselves to be divided by financial status, gender, religion and race. It's horrendous and only seems to get worse day by day 😦
Oh, and yes, I have heard of the Stanford Prison Experiment 😀 Sounds like we enjoy reading up on similar things!

Aww, thank you! Yeah, you’re right… one does need to blow their own trumpet at times for sure! 🙂 I guess, sometime I think about my ‘skills/abilities’ and think- oh, they’re so every day life, surely everyone can do that.. and I know I’m wrong because different environments, lifestyles, cultures… there’s tons of stuff I don’t know how to do that you do… It’s really interesting, just taking the moment and considering it… how different we all are in our knowledge and how we take our own skills for granted sometimes.
Ha, my ‘survival’ skills came from joining the ‘scout’ groups that would be like a ‘subsidiary’ to Estonian Defense League… the girls groups translate to something like Home Daughters and the boys groups to Young Eagles. So, kids from school can join- they go on camping trips, get together weekly to learn new skills, do all the survivor camps… not only locally, but across the country, there would be big camps and also learning more about history and team work… there’s a huge tradition behind it, so the youth groups attend parades in their uniforms and sing and … haha, very patriotic kind of thing… but the best of times were spent! 🙂 Here’s a quick image of the uniforms https://www.kodutytar.ee/galerii/?album=1&gallery=17 😀
Yes! yes! That story about you and your mom raking leaves an apples is exactly what I mean about this outdoorsy activity… this moment has happened to me so many times and you ptu it into words perfectly and I’m glad you could relate to what I was trying to put into words… it’s just the best of times and make for awesome memories! 🙂
Oh my word.. that guy at the hotel- that’s just not right at all… it’s all kinds of wrong. The more I think about it, the more I am sure that regular, hard working people are just being screwed over big time… example from home.. my mother lost her job a couple of years before going on her pension and she was pretty much treated like dirt at the social office… she had banked 40 years of physical, unhealthy work, hardly any holidays (she preferred to work and get extra payment for hols) and paid her taxes for healthcare, etc, But when the time came for her that she needed a doctor she didn’t get the help that you’d expect… anyway… it just makes you think… do I live to work, or work to live… is there a middle way where I can have a healthy balance and at the same time won’t let the government royally screw me over? It’s all just so materialistic and it shouldn’t be this way. I mean, look at this planet… did we really come to this planet to sit in stuffy offices, work for low wages, stress ourselves out and die without ever having the chance to enjoy this little corner of the Universe? Makes my heart bleed…

Exactly! We all think we’re ‘ordinary’ but it’s only when we compare our skill set to somebody else’s that we realize that’s far from the case 🙂 I would love to have the knowledge that you do!
Those scout groups sound amazing! It puts me in mind of our Girl Guides and Cub Scouts. I think organisations like that are so underrated these days. Not only is it a fun and exciting way to make friends, but it also teaches you life-long skills. I always wanted to join something like that, but I opted for drama classes instead. How long did you attend the scouts? 🙂 I can imagine the camping trips were incredible, especially in a country as beautiful as Estonia!
That’s awful about the way in which your mother was treated 😦 You pay so much into the system that’s supposed to look after you and see nothing for it! You’re right, things like that make you wonder if you work to live or live to work. You may as well make a little cash and go and have a good time if the system refuses to acknowledge your hard work! We definitely didn’t come to this planet to sit in offices, though. I agree wholeheartedly with you on that. We’re all so much more than the jobs we work. We’re the experiences we’ve had and the places that we’ve seen ❤

🙂 I think your school was awesome to include SPE in the ethics class… most of the times, the curriculum tends to limit itself with dry facts and if you want to know the reaaalllly interesting stories one will have rto dig into it on their own accord… I do think if there would have been more interesting events and snippets from history taught in school I would have been a lot more passionate, alas, I was rather average and am only now discovering all the ‘wow’ inducing facts… 🙂

Ah,how cool.. you read Zimbardo’s book, as well? Yeah, I read it a couple of years back.. but I had seen the documentary first and the book didn’t have a huge impact for me… still good though… well.. and scary! Didn’t take a long time for everyone to drop their humanly masks!
LOL… yeah, my skills and my rant… never felt better after purging like that… 😀 it’s all good and well moaning about things and being vocal, but at the same time I kind of wish there was a reset button for planet… actually.. haha yes!! For sure!! I wholly agree with that. Everyone sees the world differently and yeah it’s definitely human nature. I just tend to look at the bloody mess of history and see how a huge majority of that comes out of people going all Utopian… scares the hell out of me. (hehe which is a nice gloomy thought 😉 )

If I ever find myself having to survive in the wild I hope it’s with you. I’m not outdoorsy at all and have none of your skills. I was tagged for this once, but ended up never posting it because I realized just how boring I am and couldn’t think of an answer for half the questions.

You my dear are anything but average! Catching fish with a water bottle, filtering water, wow you’re like Lara Croft to me now ;-). My ex-husband was really into survival and stuff too, and I’ve seen my fair share of Bear Grills and others and probably still wouldn’t survive on my own ;-). I love your favorite, I can so see it before me and I even long for it when you describe it like this! I’m not going to do this tag though, I really don’t know anything interesting to answer to these questions :-).

Yes exactly, and I think going back to nature will become even more popular than it is now, everybody wants to step away from their hectic life and go back to the basics! So cool that you had someone to learn all about it and really experience it all yourself (instead of watching on a DVD) Maybe you should think about organising survival courses or something ;-). Hihi I know, Bear Grylls made me cringe more than once :-). Thanks for saying that.. I’ll give it some thought when I have the time ;-).

I love Slipknot! I did not always appreciate them until seeing them in concert. Walked away with a new respect and admiration. I gigled because I love Metalocalypse. And I promise that I am not weird, but I used to help my neighbor chop woometalocalypsed when I was younger, and I found it to be really stress relieving. I am probably one of the few people who will volunteer to help with this chore 😉

Volunteering to chop wood isn’t weird- you’re just my kinda girl! 🙂 There truly is something therapeutic in the task plus the added bonus of physical workout and a sense of achievement! 🙂

Love your response to what you often thnk about. The calf point made me think about how a couple of days ago, summer solstice, my husband had said it was the longest day of the year, in work. One of his members of staff couldn’t inderstand this given how she thought all days had 24 hrs….
This is a girl in her mid 20s and couldn’t work out that the longest day meant light. He tried to explain the hemisphere, tilt of the earth etc and she just didn’t grasp it. He had to dumb it right down and from what I understand she was still confused how one could say ‘Today is the longest day’.
This is the norm these days and it really gets on my goat the ignorance of people. If my 9yr old can have conversations about politics and other ‘adult’ subjects then how in the name of goodness are these so called adults not able to understand basic grammer or, like I mentioned above, basic science.

My daughter and I were talking, after the election, about the voting age possibly being reduced to 16 and she said to me she doesn’t even feel comfortable about voting at 18. Personally I think you should take an intelligence and general knowledge test before being allowed to vote. How can a 9 yr old understand that 18 is too young to vote yet, take Brexit for eg people who know nothing about politics thought voting yes for Brexit was a way to get immigrants out of the UK rather than being aware of the bigger picture. This is coming from folk (which I know), even in their 40s, who think planting a garden isn’t normal. I’ve been asked why I am planting when the flowers ‘just grow’. I think alot of people live in a bubble and have lost alot of their sense. I blame modern technology.

I think you’re right.. the disconnect has become to be a major issue… people are more concerned about being PC to the point of being an*al and elementary knowledge is being swapped out by halfnaked popstars and their latest breakup… Your daughter sounds very sensible! 🙂 You’re a great mom and kids like yours promise a sensibility to reamin in the present and future!

You are 100% right. Politicians are getting endorsed by these ‘famous’ folk who have no idea and in turn the youth are voting unfavourably.
We don’t hid things from our daughter as she is the future and I believe it is best to let them start when young and mould their own minds than turn 18 and not know what to do. Thank you, made me grin from ear to ear ❤

I have not read Fight Club yet… but after your Palahniuk reviews I fully intend tot fit some of his works in this year yet! Invisible Monsters was another one by him? I think you read it earlier this year and I was mega intrigued…

Oh god… You HAVEEEEEE to check out Fight Club. At least the movie. And, best case, book and then movie!! And yep, yep. You got super intrigued by Invisible Monsters (not the remix edition, unless you want a really… weird experience). I think you’ll appreciate them both a lot. 😛 Chuck is a man who challenges normal. Not surprised that Vonnegut is one of his inspirations. Dude has wild ideas! 😀

Hahahah I’d be down to read the remix edition in the future when I feel like revisiting that book and see for myself what the “original” structure idea was all about. I just can’t tell if it’ll be just as good as the non-remix one I read hahah Let’s let your mood decide what you feel like trying when the time comes 😏
