Fantasy anyone? A bit of grimdark? Eh?
Released on June 30th, 2017, I was lucky and grateful to score a copy of Faithless directly from the author and I plan to read the book quite soon indeed…’cause that hammer is mighty! And that cover rocks!
The temples of the Forgefather have fallen. The clerics and defenders that could once be found across the nine lands are no more. Priests huddle in the great temple, clinging to the echoes of their lost religion. But the Father has fallen silent. There are none who still hear his voice.
The mines of Aspiration lie far below the temple’s marble halls. Slaves toil in the blackness, striving to earn their way into the church and the light. Wynn has been sold into this fate, traded for a handful of silver. In the depths of the mines, where none dare carry flame, he must meet his tally or die. But there are things that lurk in that darkness, and still darker things within the hearts of men.
When the souls bound to the great forge are released in a failed ritual, one novice flees down into the darkness of the mines. The soulwraiths know only hunger, the risen know only hate. In the blackest depths Kharios must seek a light to combat the darkness which descends.
Now, I don’t know about you but I think this is going to be a decent read… Maybe you already have it on your tbr list? Did you know about this book? No? Well, you do now 🙂 Going by the existing reviews, we can expect ‘beautiful prose’, ‘no love interest’, ‘varied and realistic characters’ and ‘intriguing and well researched setting’.
Sounds good to me and if it sounds good to you, too- you can find Faithless on Goodreads¦ Amazon UK ¦ USA
About the author:
Graham Austin-King was born in the south of England and weaned on broken swords and half-forgotten spells. A shortage of these forced him to consume fantasy novels at an ever-increasing rate, turning to computers and tabletop gaming between meals. unnamed
He experimented with writing at the beginning of an education that meandered through journalism, international relations, and law. To this day he is committed to never allowing those first efforts to reach public eyes.
After living in the north of England and Canada he settled once again in the south surrounded by a seemingly endless horde of children and a very patient wife who can arguably say her husband is away with the faeries.
Wow, I’ve never heard of this before but that cover alone is enough to make me want to read, it’s a beauty! Can’t wait for your review!

No…no love interest!? 😥
Just kidding 😛 As much as I love a dash of the ol’ romance, it can detract from the overall story. This sounds awesome! It sounds like the author has conceived an intricate, well-planned universe for this book. Perfect for getting lost in for a few hours 😀 Enjoy! ❤

This is the first I’ve heard about this novel– but it is definitely intriguing! I am a bit hit-or-miss on grimdark novels. I’ll be waiting for your review before I make a commitment. But you’re right, that hammer is *definitely* mighty!

Definitely sounds pretty solid. You rarely read really shitty grimdark fantasy novels anyways. 😛 Looking forward to your thoughts on this one before I add it to my TBR! 😀
