I had itchy blogging fingers and while I am reading a very-very good 700+ page fantasy Behemoth courtesy of NetGalley…
…I wanted to pop together a post of my upcoming titles you can expect some reviews for- in due course, naturally!
In no particular order, here they are:
Dark Matter by Blake Crouch | Darkest Kiss by Gena Showalter |
Promise of Blood by Brian McClellan | Art of War- Anthology for Charity by Various Authors
Avalon Wishes by Alexa Whitewolf | Malice by John Gwynne | Song by Jesse Teller |
The Good Samaritan by John Marrs | Hydra by Matt Wesolowski
Have you read any of these titles and wish to give me some thoughts before I go into them?
What’s your immediate TBR like and anything particular you’re super excited to read next?
Obviously you should read Hydra first 😄

Hahaha, of course! I have a feeling fitting it asap in won’t be a problem as it sounds so good that once I start I won’t stop until I’ve read it in one sitting… that’s the good feeling I have about it anyway 🙂

The covers alone are looking seriously awesome, let alone the stories themselves😀 Looking forward to your upcoming reviews for these 😀😀

Right? 🙂 Some gems in here, for sure… Thanks for stopping by 🙂

I really wish I could get into High Fantasy! Movies and TV, no problem but when it comes to reading, it just doesn’t keep my attention. Shame because I’m probably missing out on so many great books!

Aw, yes… What was it recently I thought I have no problem watching and absolutely no go on reading… hmm, can’t remember but I can relate to this… Some fantasy is just sooooo good 🙂 Hope they will end up making movies out of those really good ones in the future, so 🙂

I’m sure that people can say the same about hard Sci-Fi or “smart” sci-fi which I love. Some genres are so nichey (yep I’ll just make up a word lol) that you either love it or hate it.

MMm… yes.. scifi is another one that I probably can only read the ‘soft’ version of 😀 I don’t have the marbles for the hardcore scifi 😀

See and I love it. Not the Star Trek type stuff but like “The Martian” or really good speculative fiction. At the same time I can say I love the Star Wars movies, even the cartoons but I find the books BORING! lol

Interesting.. I wonder how I would get along with The Martian book because the movie was bang on good… I think the book is written in a way that’s fun and engaging, though… my boss reads scifi.. like hardcore scifi and he’s always like- this is good and I’m like- yeah, no! 😀

Yes definitley in the case with the movie, Matt Damon does a fantastic job bringing humour and character to the situation. The book is very good but maybe not as colourful? Hmm is that the word I’m looking for? Well you get what I mean

Yes! Totally get it… Matt Damon is a great actor anyway and it definitely helps bringing that further character and quirk in the movies… 🙂

Oh yes- I remember! The mystery/police procedurals! hahaha… I can’t stand reading them because they can be so painfully detailed and slow (not like thrillers) for me but I don’t mind watching the shows!

Malice for the win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get on Team Gwynne Lizzykins! Though after a 700-page fantasy read I’d pick something else first I have to say. Dark Matter always intrigued me, I’m not big on SFF though do have not bothered with it myself but it seems to get far more positive praise than negative. Oh, Hydra, I am seeing that book everywhere and it has a stunning cover and sounds dark, creepy and awesome! 🙂

Can’t wait to get on the Gwynne Team, finally 🙂 I think the fact of the new book spurred me into action with the series.. read it first, you know… and Hydra- yes- there’s metal references and everything in Hydra (there was in Six Stories as well by author) so that should be nice 🙂 – have high hopes for it, that’s for sure 🙂

Ah Malice and Hydra are on my list and Art of War anthology on my radar. Anthologies are so hit and miss with me, maybe your review can tip the scale and knock it into my list 😉 I really hope you enjoy Dark Matter more than I did. Many loved it. For myself, it was a let down. Happy reading!

I sure do hope I can convince you to read the anthology… some really good authors are involved… and I hope I am going to enjoy the living daylights out of this one 😀
Ooooh… Interesting… Dark Matter didn’t live up to the hype for you…Now I am really curious 😀 Thanks, Dani! ❤

Yeah.. I have a review buried somewhere haha. But it just fell flat haha. Will be watching for the anthology review 😉

Promise of Blood is one of my favorites. Brian McClellan was a student of Brandon Sanderson, and the apple didn’t fall far from the tree! I do recommend you spend some time in the 6 prequel novellas first before you get into book 1, though. They give just enough insight and color to the characters that it really opens up the nuances and makes the whole Powder Mage trilogy even better. They aren’t numbered, but here’s the order they should be read:
1. Foresworn
2. Servant of the Crown
3. Murder at the Kinnen Hotel
4. Hope’s End
5. The Girl of Hrusch Avenue
6. The Face in the Window
Not required, but recommended. Good luck!

Fantastic- thank you so much for this information- I love that you took the time to fill me in on this important information. I will certainly check the prequel novellas out… because if I plan to get committed, I might as well go all out! Thank you so much, again! 🙂

Ooooh… Good to hear about Hydra and Dark Matter… The Good Samaritan… what put you off it? 🙂 I’ve read The One by Marrs and loved it and I’ve heard TGS is different but I kind of can’t wait 🙂

The repetition, I won’t say any more than that but once you’ve read it, we’ll discuss more 🙂 I haven’t read The One yet and I’m worried to now, despite how good everyone tells me it is 🙈

Ah yes.. the repetition.. I thik I read about it in some reviews… However, The One- is a totally different kettle of fish and you should defo give it a go… short chapters and it’s just bang-bang-bang and tons of twists and characters.. I found it really hard to put down… very good! So, I do await with anticipation your thoughts on The One if you decide to take the plunge 🙂

I will be keeping my eye out for your thoughts on Dark Matter because I had seen a stellar review for it back when the ARC was on NetGalley, but right before I was going to request it one of my blogging buddies gave a scathing review for it and when I brought up the stellar review, she said that the book the other blogger reviewed was not the same book. I found out after it was too late to request it, that it was the same book and I saw more great reviews for it after the fact. Ugh. I am hoping my library has the ebook because I would still like to read it. 😝

oh nooo… Yes, I hope to read dark matter quite soon myself… it has been one of those titles that has intrigued me a lot based on reviews I have seen… I am thinking it will be the exact good amount of deep and different! 🙂
I hope you manage to get your hands on a copy soon as well 🙂
