Not everything is as it seems in what appears to be an average family. When danger lurks so close to home, skeletons emerge, and the darkest of secrets surface, causing twisted desires to become reality.
Aggravated Momentum offers the perspective of some very diverse and unique characters, including fun, witty personalities to fall in love with, along with an intellectual killer to die for. You may be surprised as to whom exactly you can relate. Is it the cold, calculated murderer, who’s name is yet to be revealed? Markie or Kam, the independent sisters, guilty of nothing more than getting tangled with the wrong people at the most inopportune times? Or, the cowardly snake curled in a hidden corner? Who are you, exactly? And, more importantly, who are they? The deeper you dig into the psyche of another, the more breath taking are the secrets you will find.

Aggravated Momentum was probably one of the quickest, raciest reads for me in 2018. It started off with murderous excitement and the momentum not even once fizzled out.
Markie, a movie theatre manager, has already lost her best friend to a horrific murder when the killer strikes again, right across the street from her home. Needless to say, the detectives and news reporters are aplenty but that doesn’t mean anyone is safe from being the next victim.
Adding another layer of intrigue is Markie’s family- her sister with whom Markie has an interesting and a complex relationship; the mother who probably isn’t worthy of the title ‘mother’ at all… You just know that there’s more to this family than just a little bit of dysfunctional dynamics than what is normal.
Oviatt doesn’t waste time on trying to convince the reader of the authenticity of her characters; instead she skillfully shows their personalities through dialogue and by placing them into situations that more often than not revealed more than just their frayed nerves. This is the thing with Aggravated Momentum– the twists keep on coming and there are plenty of surprises to keep you turning the pages. Personally, I would never have guessed the directions the story went. Brilliant!
I also found Oviatt’s style rather refreshing- she doesn’t pussyfoot around the gory murder detail, nor does she keep her characters on the straight & narrow and politically correct. When a character insults another character- you’ll know it! And I liked that- I felt like the author really used the creative freedom here to create that weirdly seductive murder suspense.
Fab review! Good to hear you enjoyed this one.

This sounds really well done. I’m glad the momentum never fizzled out and that this was so twisty. It’s brilliant that the characters were so skillfully shown as well. Wonderful review!
