Time for The Boopdate #0003, the book haul edition. I got some books, I want to show you. Really, I didn’t need new books, my TBR towers healthily yet (I think there’s another Boopdate post here to show you my unread titles which ever so helpfully always make me feel guilty when I greedily grab for new books?!)… but none of us ever needs an excuse to get new books, our existence is based on getting new books.
The Riven Wyrde Saga by Graham Austin-King: Ihave read other titles by this author (Faithless and Prometheus). Both of which I loved. And recently I saw on the author’s FB page that the saga was for sale so how could I not? Plus, I believe there was an image of a hunky dude with an axe, if memory serves right. Faes! Again, I ask, how could I not? π Goodreads link
The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie: If you frequent my blog the few times I actually post, you’ll probably know the few titles I have read by the Grimdark King I have loved to bits. Again, I nabbed this as it was on sale and dare I ask- how could I not? Goodreads link
The Long Midnight of Barney Thomson by Douglas Lindsay: Sale buy. I know, I’m a sale-whore. Anyway, why this title? I am not entirely sure, I think the blurb enticed me. But also, I have a lot of faith in Scottish authors. One of my favourite authors is, was unfortunately, Scottish. I am hoping Douglas Lindsay will deliver the typical Scottish quirky madness. The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers: La La has been the Becky Chambers Ambassador! La La has been recommending this title since the birth of this book (and of course, once she read it) and she loves it so much that I had to just pull my finger out and get the book already! Goodreads link
Thorn by Intisar Khanani: Another one of La La’s recommendations. It;s a Young Adult title and when La La praises a YA title, you can bet it’s going to be a good one! Plus, that cover is simply gorgeous! Goodreads link
**since the above 2 books were purely added to my e-library thanks to La La, then it only makes sense I link her blog here so you can all go check out her bookish corner of the blogging world π –> LA LA IN THE LIBRARY
Crowfall by Ed McDonald: book 3 in The Raven’s Mark trilogy. Third and last book that I haven’t got to. The main dude is probably one of my favourite main dudes in a series. Brilliantly well written fantasy that many would agree with and I can’t wait to read this book although that would mean the end of this series. Goodreads link
Artemis by Andy Weir: I mean, who doesn’t know The Martian, right? I only saw the movie of The Martian. Yeah, yeah, I know, I am a shame to all bookworms out there and so forth. But. Get this. Books are expensive in Estonia. They truly are, so when I saw that this hardback title was reduced from 25.50euro to 5.50 for club members, I was like- you can now take my money! π It’s a beautiful looking book and I am sure it’ll be a great read, too! Goodreads link
I finally got Mort by Terry Pratchett! I learned very fast that when one was not acquainted with Pratchett’s books, Mort is the best starting point. I scored this lovely hardback in Estonian at a sales. (I am starting to think I should count how many times the word ‘sales’ has been mentioned in this post!) La La then told me about a readalong in the Turtle Recall Goodreads group and I thought, brilliant, this may just be the best way for me to tackle this book. I am 75 pages in and I am loving it this far! π Goodreads link
Still reading The Count of Monte Cristo – it’s going slow but good. Going slow not because the story drags, but because I’m in a time crunch. It’s good though, so good! Goodreads link
For an upcoming Storytellers On Tour book tour I am reading Red in Tooth and Claw by Ryan Howse. Um, brutal. Intense…. Sublime writing. I will tell more as part of the tour, so keep an eye out for my review at the end of April. Goodreads link
So, that’s it for now folks. Have you read any of these books?
Eager to hear your thoughts on Pratchett. we nearly have all his discworld novels i hard back form.

Thanks for all the shout outs and the link! I hope I didn’t entice you into spending too much money. π
I also love a good sale. Ha ha. I can’t remember the last time I paid full price for a book. π
I loved The Martian, but I didn’t read Artemis because for for some reason people didn’t think I would like it. I can’t remember why. Was it romance? I can’t think what else it would be. Ha ha. I have an ARC of Hail Mary. If I love this third one I might go back and read Artemis. I’ll wait for your review first. π
