Holy fantasy goodness, have I got 2 pieces of news to share today! First a cover reveal, and be warned, you’ll remain gazing upon that cover art for a while… do, but… scroll on, because we also have a book birthday celebration… So, let’s get started!

The End of Time… book #3 of The Cruel Gods gaslamp fantasy trilogy is set to be published in early 2024. That’s practically right around the corner (although you still have plenty time to catch up with the first 2 books!) and this means, it’s time to show off the pretties! And the pretty is created by James T. Egan of Bookfly Design.
Behold!

About the book:
When the saints fall, the sinners rise.
Calamity has befallen the steam-powered city of Chime as the gods declare war on each other, choosing Chime’s streets as their battleground. Kayl has the means to end their reign for good and create a new world free from their whims. But recruiting an army against divine beings is no easy task, and as her allies fall one by one, Kayl is left to shoulder her burden alone.
Finally free from his own god’s shackles, Quen is bound in service to Chaos, who only wants revenge against Quen’s former master. Torn between his desire for vengeance and justice, Quen is no stranger to the gods’ cruelty and will do whatever it takes to see Kayl’s vision through—even if it destroys his soul.
To ensure a better future, Kayl and Quen must unite mortals against their makers and decide the gods’ fate before time itself comes to an end.
For the era of gods is over.

As I said, the bookish goodness doesn’t stop here! Today, on the 13th of October, we can also say Happy Birthday to Tales from Across the Domains short story collection:
Apostates, misfits, rebels, and sinners. What do they have in common? They all desire freedom to choose their own path in defiance of the gods who own their souls.
From an underwater domed city to perilous jungles, volcanic cabaret theaters, mushroom forests, and beyond, travel across twelve unique domains and learn of mortal life under the gods’ watchful eyes. Your journey begins in Chime, a steam-powered city that connects each domain through a magical portal that changes at the turn of the hour.
Wardens are on hand to guide you on your journey, but be careful—not all domains are safe to traverse, and not all are what they seem.
Tales From Across the Domains is a collection of fifteen short stories set within The Cruel Gods world—a gaslamp fantasy featuring magical portals, gothic cosmic deities, quaint Britishisms, and steampunk vibes. These short stories can be read at any point during the series and contain strong language and mature themes that some readers may find disturbing.
Why burn a perfectly good book that did nothing but exist? Surely it was more productive to burn the author who wrote it in the first place?
Tales from Across the Domains – Trudie Skies

Praise for The Thirteenth Hour
The Thirteenth Hour asks the question “how much do we owe to a cruel creator?”, and the book pretty much doesn’t pull punches on the idea. It was a big philosophical swing, executed beautifully, which surpassed my already-high expectations based on its summary.
Olivia Atwater – Author of Small Miracles

I love this book. To me, The Thirteenth Hour is a masterpiece. It’s a celebration of fantasy and character. It’s over-the-top crazy, but it’s real and grounded and raw. It is perhaps my favourite self-published book of all time.
Hiu Gregg – The Fantasy Inn
Praise for The Children of Chaos
This book does not suffer from middle-book syndrome and that is all you really need to know, so if you like steampunk/gaslamp and British things like biscuits and tea, go ahead, buy it now, and read this series because it’s worth it. I swear. The world-building. Seriously. The world-building…
Vinjii – Books in Blankets Blog

Long story short, this book is a masterpiece, and I don’t exactly abuse this word.
Bjørn Larssen – Author of Children and Why Odin Drinks
It wasn’t fun committing chaos without an audience.
The Thirteenth Hour – Trudie Skies

If I was a pious woman, I’d be praying.
The Children of Chaos – Trudie Skies
But I was a Godless woman, and the gods left me to dictate my own fate.

When not conjuring new worlds, Trudie spends their free time exploring the realms of indie books and video games, staring at clouds, and chasing after their fluffy companions.

Okay please bear with me. A little over two weeks ago I arrived to catch up on your blog. I commented on this post and the Country Roads post but neither one of them showed up. I thought maybe you had put commenting moderation on, so I left and intended to check back later, but things got busy. 😐 I dropped by again earlier and tried commented on your last two posts, but the reply button wouldn’t light up. I went to the settings page for my WP account and it said something about my WP jetpack. 🙄 I finally got a prompt to log into WP and it let me post, but again neither showed up. I checked back later and the comment on the author guest post was there, but the comment on your last post was not. I then checked this post and the Country Roads post to see if my previous posts had ever shown up, but they hadn’t.
I get the gist that for some reason I have to sign into WP every time I want to comment, even to reply to my own comment, BUT it takes forever for me to find the right combo of clicks for the sign in page to show up. I also noticed all my “likes” were gone. 🤔 I re-liked them to to see if they disappear again. My keyboard also drops out while I’m typing and I have to wait for it to come back up. I went to see if I had to sign in to Annemieke’s WP blog and I didn’t, so I don’t know what the difference is. 😛

Okay, see then how you get along, I turned off having to be logged on to comment.
I do know that if comment goes into moderation queue, your comment would appear to you with this note after you hit submit. I tried contacting WP support but they have the AI give an initial response re clearing cookies and cache. I do have another issue that has been occurring, so I’ll pop an email together for them later. Cheers!

First… I did figure out that if I copy my comment and refresh the page and paste the comment back that it posts right away and not hours later, so if you want to put your “logged in” requirement back go ahead. 😌 I’ve had problems posting to other WP blogs over the years and they always eventually righted themselves. I will never ask Word Press to help me with a problem ever again because the first time they “helped” me they ended up deleting my account. 🙄
Now on to the books! I REALLY want to try these! I will add the first book to Goodreads. They have a lot of story elements that I love. Thanks for sharing their existence. I will be honest and say that although the covers are lovely, I probably would have scrolled on by them thinking they were Romance. Ha ha. I see that Kindle Unlimited has the first one. I’ll read it the next time I get a free 30-day trial. ☺
