Hey-hey! It’s the final day of January and thus it is still relevant to look back on the books read in 2024 and challenges set to self.

This particular one is a challenge that LaLa in the Library sets herself every year and I finally decided to tag along with her challenge, albeit maybe slightly amended…You can find LaLa’s Challenge update HERE, where she sets a new scorecard for 2025 and looks back at 2024.

So, how did I do in 2024? Let’s see… dun-dun-duunnn… To read the numbers: the goal set/the number read

NONFICTION – 3/7

NATIVE AMERICAN/FIRST NATIONS AUTHORS – 2/0

BACKLIST ARCS – 0/4 … yep. I started the year with zero backlist ARCs and ended it with 4. Oops.

CLASSICS – 5/1

RE-READS – 2/1

PLAYS – 1/1

FREEBIES/99C KINDLE BOOKS – 8/1

GOODREADS CHALLENGE – 35/47

To be honest, I am surprised I filled the 1 book challenge of plays. I didn’t think I’d meet the target of even one, but Shakespeare helped me out here, via buddy-read no less. As for nonfiction – this is easily explained by the fact that I went to Uni last year. Lots of nonfiction reading for that one. ARCs… as I said. Oops. Rereads – Jane Eyre! ❤ Sadly, Native American/First Nation authors goal didn’t get filled in 2024, but I aim to rectify this in 2025.

So… 2025?

NONFICTION – 5

NATIVE AMERICAN/FIRST NATIONS AUTHOR – 1

CLASSICS – 5

REREADS – 1

FREEBIES/99C/KINDLE BACKLOG – 6

NYT 100 BEST BOOKS OF 21ST CENTURY – 3

GOODREADS CHALLENGE – 35

LaLa also has PLAYS and MUSIC in her categories, but I think plays are really not my thing, unless it’s some version of Peer Gynt by Ibsen which I can heartily recommend. Like LaLa, I have also added the NYT 100 Best Books of 21st Century to my challenge. There’s a handy Wikipedia post which has a table of books in this list which can be easily copied over to Excel for tracking. Just sayin’…

Happy reading to you all in 2025! I bet we can but blink and we’ll be back here, posting and reading everyone’s 2025 wrap-ups in no time! The challenge is on!
