Time to catch up on some awards and tags… Claire @ BrizzleLass Books has been kindly tagging me in various ones. It goes without saying that it always humbles me whenever a tag or award nomination is coming my way. It kind of means that you’re at the back of someone’s head… OR… that your latest blog post notification is sitting in their inbox to-be-read pile… one way or another- it’s a connection! Thank you Brizzle Lass… you rock so much! Everyone else- do give Brizzle Lass a visit! 😉
What is this award?
This award is for bloggers who strive to write for everybody, and no matter how many viewers they get, make an impact on a reader. This award is an expression of gratitude to the nominee. It should be awarded to anybody that you choose deserves it, and it doesn’t mean that they must have hundreds of followers and likes.
Rules
(Rules, bloody rules… or as the original would go Roots, bloody roots. By the way, this is not part of the award instructions. This is me, Liz, taking inspiration from words and humming Sepultura)
- anybody nominated can nominate up to eight other bloggers
- the nominee answers three questions posed by the nominator
- the questions you ask while nominating can be any three questions
- if any of the questions asked are offensive or the nominee simply does not want to answer, the nominee does not have to answer them to earn the award
Questions & Answer
You can only use one adjective to describe yourself, which one do you choose?
Oh, but I am many good things and the list of positive adjectives would be endless here.. mwahahaha! But seriously, I think, one that seems to cover a lot of areas I am so *humbly* good at, is: broad-minded. Definition of word: willing to accept many different types of behaviour and not easily shocked.
(and now I’m breaking the rules… already!) I also like balance, so don’t think I am being overly negative, but it’s only fair to talk about the why I’m not so awesome… I actually googled negative personality adjectives and analysed the ones that seemed to hit the mark… I came to the conclusion that I can be selfish… because sometimes I smile at you and listen to how awfully crap your day was over the phone, soothe you and make you laugh, while on the other end of the receiver I am crying inside and thinking- whyyyy meeeee? How horrible am I, hey!? Hypocrite… he-haaay, the adjectives keep coming now! Take that Google! 😀
Which song perfectly describes the book you are currently reading?
I am currently reading Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff and the song that came to mind was Prodigy- Firestarter
These lyrics are the Anthem to Mia even though she doesn’t do fire, but let’s not take everything literally! And the instrumental is just as punchy as the book itself.
I’m the trouble starter, punkin’ instigator
I’m the fear addicted, danger illustrated
I’m a firestarter, twisted firestarter
You’re a firestarter, twisted firestarter
I’m a firestarter, twisted firestarter
I’m the b*tch you hated, filth infatuated
Yeah! I’m the pain you tasted, fell intoxicated
You have to create your Top 5 Books of the year so far, what are they?
In no particular order:
The Ninth Rain by Jen Williams | Kings of the Wyld by Nicholas Eames |
Blackwing by Ed McDonald | The Black Guard by A. J. Williams
My Questions
- Who would win the Fairytale Cage Match: The Grimm Brothers or Hans Christian Andersen? Why?
- A goblin comes to you this evening granting you a wish with which you can wake up tomorrow in any fictional world and live there for the rest of forever and ever- what fictional world is it and why?
- You can choose 3 fictional characters and grant them real life. Who would you choose to play god on and bring into this world and why?
My nominees
Drew | Jazz | Orangutan Librarian(Is it odd that I still don’t know your name? 😀 ) | Lashaan| Nikola
The covers of your favorites are amazing and I love that you are broad minded. Congratulations 🙂

I hope I will get to it but I’m known for being very VERY lazy with tags haha

That’s OK- I won’t arm wrestle you into doing the tag! 😉 Or will I? 😉 😀

Eeeee thank you for the nomination! I am SO behind on awards and tags it’s unreal, but I’m going to answer your questions today 😀
I agree with you. I think you’re very broad minded. You strike me as a person who’s very open to the ideas and beliefs of others (as is proven by our little discussion on death and you not thinking I’m a nutjob :P). Not only that, though, but you have broad taste in regards to the books that you read and I think our choice of books says a lot about us; you’re a person who wants to experience a multitude of things from a multitude of perspectives and you do this through the books that you read. I think as well as broad minded, you’re also quite empathetic 😀
Breaking the rules maybe, but balance is so very important. Balance is (to quote my own bloody poem) the fundamental principle upon which the world exists and thrives. You can’t have one without the other so it’s good that you’ve included a negative adjective too 😛 I think selfishness is a very human trait and I think anyone who says that they never have selfish thoughts or impulses would be lying. Selfishness isn’t always necessarily a bad thing; sometimes it just means that you want the best thing for you and what’s wrong with that? 🙂
Ah Firestarter! That takes me back 😛 Reminds me of being in my mid teens and it being the song that everyone was listening to on their phones at lunchtime at school. Awesome song!
I couldn’t agree more with on ‘Kings of the Wyld’! I’d seen so many awesome things about it on WP and Twitter, but was initially a bit hesitant because when I think of ‘fantasy’, I think of 1000 page epics and I find those a bit intimidating! ‘Kings of the Wyld’, though, was so fantastic. It was such a fun read!
Interesting questions…they’re gonna get me thinking 😛

Message received.. I’m so going to tag you next time ;-). I think you’re broad-minded as well and it also reflects in the different genres you read and appreciate. Hmm what does that say about me though.. I thought I was broad-minded too but I’m so conservative in my reading :-). Haha don’t feel bad, we’ve all been there.. only difference is that I simply don’t pick up the phone in the first place 🙂

hahaha… I have plenty tags in the pipeline so some coming your way as well 🙂
Aw, thank you very much… however, I don’t think conservative reading is the only criteria for broad mindedness… going a step further, it is how you talk about books that proves your broad mindedness as well 😉 And besides- thrillers need quite a bit of open minded approach 😀
You have the right idea- don’t pick up the phone… but darn, I think I tried it once and nearly died of guilt! XD

I’ve never thought about it that way! You should be a motivational coach, or a psychologist :-)!

Thanks for the tag Pants.😂 I suck big time at doing tags but I appreciate you tagging me and I’ll try to remember to do it.😀
Definitely agree with you on ‘broad-minded’ from what I’ve seen on your blog and in comments, yep, I’d go with that.
Also, a fantastic list of books The Ninth Rain, Blackwing and Kings of the Wyld are awesome new books (Blackwing and KOTW will be on my books of the year list guaranteed) and The Black Guard is epic too.

Pants! I use that as a soft swear word at work… learned it from my Welsh colleague.. is it an English thing as well? Ah pants! 😀
Thanks Drew.. look forward to your answers if you do decide to give this a go 🙂

Yeah, pants is an English thing too. Though I lack the usage of soft swearing so don’t really use it.😂 See though, pants again. It all revolves around pants!😂

Yeah, usually when you link bloggers into the tag post, link it to their blog post or about page, that way the notification should automatically appear for the tagee XD hahaha,

First of all, congratulations on the award! 😀 This is one of my favorites because it’s just, ugh, so cute ❤
Also, don't beat yourself up about being a "selfish" person or "hypocritical". Reading your post, I think you're quite like the average person, really. Most people are just not as honest with themselves or the world, so here's a positive adjective for you: Honest 😉 And highly self-aware!
Great list, too ^^ I really want to read something by Kristoff soon. Taking by everyone's reactions, the man seems to be a genius! And also try the other books, which you've praised so much here on the blog. But where is the time???

Aw, thank you so much for your wonderful comment 🙂
I know… just NO time whatsoever to get to all the books everyone is excited about 😀 How do you like your fantasy? Kristoff’s Nevernight Chronicles defo has some elements that some readers found surprising due to some mistake the book being labelled as YA…. hehehe… I do hope you’ll enjoy it as most of the readers have…

You’re very welcome! 🙂
Oh I’m very open-minded when it comes to fantasy. I definitely enjoy different subgenres and would say I can pretty much go with anything these days hahaha
Nevernight just sounded super awesome from the very start, and I’m glad to know it’s more mature than expected. I’m growing slightly tired of YA, so that’s awesome to hear 🙂

I haven’t seen this tag before but I like it. And I love the questions that you chose. I would need to do some thinking to answer that fictional world one?? I don’t know. Love The firestarter song, it reminds me of my uni days.
Let’s hope no one who phones you to be sad and want sympathy reads this. 😉

hahaha, yeah… no, the callers would never find their way here, thankfully… I’d rather keep answering their phone calls than admit to beind overwhelmed to be honest…
Thank you for stopping by- I am glad the song acted as a blast from the past 😉

The telephone thing… I do that with my mother. That is why I communicate with my sister via Facebook Messenger because if I call her on the phone, she always says, “Here, talk to mom.”
I think I put Blackwing on my Looks Interesting shelf on Goodreads, but I will have to check.
Your set of questions are stellar. 🙂

ah… I hate being put on the spot during phone calls.. I mean, if I wanted to talk to that other person, I’d ring them instead.. that has happened to me so many times, being made to talk to them even tho I have no Idea what to say… awkward! 🙂
Thank you 🙂 I must tag you in some future tags/awards! 🙂

Broad-minded… Wow.. Just when I just recently mentioned how I loved that you were so open-minded!!! 😛 Oh, and your top 5… They’re basically all on my TBR because of you hahahah I’m going to be reading Blackwing around the end of September!!!!!! I can’t wait to experience it for myself! Great answers, Liz! 🙂

Yeah 😀 Aren’t I just cool like that? 😀 lol… no, really, I am trying to be humble here but I do think this is one of my best traits… it has shown itself especially in work situatiosn where everyone is bitching about each other, and I;m like- yeah, well, we all have our reasons 😀 I’m the Switzerland of personalities 😀
Yes! I can’t wait for you to try Blackwing… and Nevernight/Godsgrave! 😉 Your reviews for these books are going to rock so hard! 😉
